ready to go 6/10/2006 ... age 6

"HERBIE" gets injured !

On our 4th day out, during practice, we spun in turns 3 and 4, and another driver, while doing his best to avoid the situation, hit Josh and Herbie on the left right by Josh. A fair amount of bent metal and cracked fiberglass resulted, as well as a bruised ego. Crew Chief "Poppy" did his best to straighten the physical damage and Pit Boss "Grandma Daisy" did her best to fix the more important bruise on Josh's heart.  The team of three was back in action in time for the second heat, and the feature, although a little slower than before, and a lot more cautious.  Unfortunately, no still photos were captured of the damage

kart is ready, Josh is ready, this pic is just before our 1st race ever !

This is video of the very 1st race Joshua was ever entered in. Prior to this, his only experience in a go Kart was about 45 minutes total in a parking lot. This race was at Jamaica Raceway, in Jamaica Iowa. The class was called Putt Putt, and is designed around a full sized racing kart adapted to fitthe little guys with a supposedly stock % HP Briggs and Stratton. Ours was completely stock, with the exception of the header mandated by the rules and the .425 purple restricto plate on teh carburetor. Jamaica is a 1/5 mile paved oval with nice banking.  Joshua actually makes one good pass, and is on another when he finds outthat outide line on the  back chute really doesnt afford passing room. Enjoy the video.
